Jim Isler grew up playing music in the area around Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties in South Carolina. He and his siblings were all self taught
country musicians who learned music from their parents. Jim and his brother Boyd both played the fiddle. Jim played fiddle with bands from the
1940s onward, playing on local radio shows. He later moved to Florida and continued to play music there.
